The lane is named for Nai Lert, the entrepreneur who developed much of this part of Bangkok in the early twentieth century; the family's estate and its well-known garden still occupy the top of the soi. That history is why the street is a pocket of residential buildings rather than an extension of Ploenchit Road — it was laid out as somewhere to live.
The name of the building is not decoration either: the upper floors look out across Ploenchit, the Nai Lert grounds and, on a clear day, most of central Bangkok. From the door, Central Embassy is about five minutes on foot and the elevated skywalk from Phloen Chit station reaches Central Chidlom, Gaysorn, CentralWorld and the Erawan Shrine without a road crossing. Sukhumvit begins two stops east; Lumphini Park lies at the southern end of Wireless Road.
