Ruam Rudi is the sort of street that makes a district worth living in. It runs between Ploenchit Road and Wireless Road, carries no through traffic, and is walled on one side by embassy compounds whose gardens and old trees keep it green and quiet. Around the residential blocks a line of small independent restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops has grown up over the years — places that exist for the residents rather than for visitors, and that stay open into the evening.
From the door, Central Embassy and Central Chidlom are within a ten-minute walk, Gaysorn and CentralWorld a little further on the elevated skywalk from Phloen Chit station, and Asok, Terminal 21 and the Sukhumvit restaurants a few BTS stops east. Lumphini Park lies at the southern end of Wireless Road: 140 rai of lake, lawn and banyan trees, busiest before seven in the morning with runners and tai chi groups.
