ABOUT THIS STAY
Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok
Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is a hotel in the Langsuan–Ratchadamri–Ploenchit area of Bangkok. It stands on Ratchadamri Road in Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330. BTS Chit Lom is about a five-minute walk away. It sits inside the Langsuan pickup round, with 31 other addresses we collect from inside a 500 m walk. The nearest address we already collect from is Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, about 100 m away.
Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok has a front desk, so the usual arrangement is the simplest one: leave the bag with the concierge on your way out and it is back at the same desk when you return. Wash & Fold comes back folded flat and packed for a suitcase; Wash & Iron comes back pressed and on hangers. Next day is standard, and same day is available when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
The building sits on Ratchadamri Road, Pathum Wan. BTS Chit Lom is about a five-minute walk from the door (297 m) and BTS Ratchadamri is about 458 m, so guests here have two lines within walking distance. Our driver comes by road rather than by rail, so the pickup window is the one you agree with us, not the train timetable.
Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok is not a one-off stop for us: on the same round we also collect at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok (100 m), Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel (150 m) and Grande Centre Point Prestige Bangkok (150 m). A van that is already on this street is the reason a same-day return is realistic here when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
More about this place to stay
Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok stands on the corner of the Ratchaprasong intersection, and its story starts with the hotel it replaced. The government-owned Erawan Hotel occupied this plot from the 1950s until 1988, when it was demolished for redevelopment; the Grand Hyatt opened on the site in 1991, designed by Rangsan Torsuwan in a postmodern style that leans hard on traditional Thai forms. It runs 380 rooms and 44 suites over more than twenty floors, and it holds its own shopping arcade, Erawan Bangkok, inside the building.
The part every visitor recognises is not the hotel but what sits at its feet. The Erawan Shrine on the corner was built to lift the bad luck that dogged construction of the original Erawan Hotel, and it has become one of the most visited places in the city — a small gold Brahma statue wreathed in incense, marigolds and the sound of live Thai dance offered by petitioners, going at all hours while eight lanes of traffic pass a few metres away.
For a guest, this is about as central as Bangkok gets. The skywalk network starts at the door and reaches CentralWorld, Gaysorn, Central Chidlom and Central Embassy without touching a pavement; BTS Chit Lom is a two-minute walk; Lumphini Park is a short ride south. It suits the traveller who wants everything within reach and does not want to negotiate the traffic to get to it.
If you are staying here, GO Laundry PX collects your laundry at the hotel and returns it to the same front desk. Each order is washed on its own, never mixed with anyone else's, and comes back folded flat or pressed on hangers — next day as standard, same day when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
