The reason people book it repeatedly is the New York Steakhouse. It is a dark, low-lit room that has been in the Michelin Guide since 2018, serving steaks and chops in a style that has not changed in decades, and it draws Bangkok residents rather than only hotel guests. That kind of restaurant is rare in a chain hotel and it sets the tone for the rest of the building — solid, unfashionable in the best sense, and well run.
Sukhumvit Soi 2 is one of the quieter lanes at this end of the road, a run of hotels and residences rather than nightlife. BTS Nana and BTS Phloen Chit are both a short walk, so Central Embassy and the Ratchaprasong malls lie one way and Asok, Terminal 21 and the MRT interchange the other. Lumphini Park is a short ride south.
Guests here are largely business travellers on multi-day trips, which is exactly the stay length where a hotel laundry list priced by the garment becomes a line on the expense report.
