ABOUT THIS STAY
Shangri-La Bangkok
Shangri-La Bangkok is a hotel in the Riverside–Charoen Krung area of Bangkok. It stands on Krung Thon Buri Road in Khlong San, Bangkok 10500. BTS Saphan Taksin is a couple of minutes' walk away. It sits about 2.1 km from the Sathon branch that runs this area, with 23 other addresses we collect from inside a 500 m walk. The nearest address we already collect from is Center Point Silom, about 150 m away.
Shangri-La Bangkok has a front desk, so the usual arrangement is the simplest one: leave the bag with the concierge on your way out and it is back at the same desk when you return. Wash & Fold comes back folded flat and packed for a suitcase; Wash & Iron comes back pressed and on hangers. Next day is standard, and same day is available when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
The building sits on Krung Thon Buri Road, Khlong San. BTS Saphan Taksin is about a five-minute walk from the door (219 m) and BTS Surasak is about 342 m, so guests here have two lines within walking distance. Our driver comes by road rather than by rail, so the pickup window is the one you agree with us, not the train timetable.
Shangri-La Bangkok is not a one-off stop for us: on the same round we also collect at Center Point Silom (150 m), Bossotel Inn (200 m) and Heritage Stay (300 m). A van that is already on this street is the reason a same-day return is realistic here when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
More about this place to stay
Shangri-La Bangkok holds a quarter of a mile of Chao Phraya frontage in Bang Rak, which is more river than any other hotel in the city has. It is really two hotels: the 25-storey Shangri-La Wing opened in 1986 with 673 rooms, and the smaller Krungthep Wing followed five years later with 129. Together they run to about 802 rooms.
The Krungthep Wing is the one regulars ask for. Every room in it has a balcony over the water, which is unusual — most riverside hotels give you the view through glass. Rooms across both wings are furnished in Thai silks and teak against a neutral ground, and the gardens and pools run right down to the riverbank.
The position is as convenient as riverside Bangkok gets. The hotel faces BTS Saphan Taksin and the Sathorn pier, so the Chao Phraya express boats, the hotel shuttles and the whole river network start at the door, and Silom, Sala Daeng and Lumphini Park are a few BTS stops east. Charoen Krung, Bang Rak's street food and the Assumption Cathedral are behind it; ICONSIAM and the old town are upstream by boat.
Guests here are usually in Bangkok for several days and out most of them, which is exactly when laundry stops being something you deal with yourself.
You can use GO Laundry PX's laundry pickup and delivery service from Shangri-La Bangkok. We collect at the front desk or from you directly, wash every order on its own so it never shares a machine with another guest's, and return it to the same address — folded flat for packing, or pressed and returned on hangers. Next day is standard; same day is confirmed at booking before 2pm.
