BTS Asok sits in Sukhumvit–Asok–Nana, the area we work around Terminal 21, the Asok interchange and lower Sukhumvit. The Skytrain runs above the traffic, so a pickup window holds whatever the road below is doing.
Most of the collections here are on Soi Sukhumvit 18, Soi Sukhumvit 16, Sukhumvit Road. The mix is 40 hotels, 9 condominiums, 1 serviced apartment, which is why the handoff differs from building to building — a hotel has a concierge, a condo has a lobby counter, and a serviced apartment usually has both.
Asok is where the BTS and the MRT cross, which makes it the most useful single platform in Bangkok and the reason 39 of the 49 addresses we collect from here are hotels rather than homes. Terminal 21 sits on the corner — the mall laid out floor by floor as different world cities, with a food court on the fifth that is still one of the cheapest good meals in central Bangkok.
The hotels sit mostly on the even-numbered sois south of the main road, 16 and 18, which are calmer than they sound given what is at the junction. Soi Cowboy is a hundred metres away and Benchakitti Park, with its lake and forest walkways, is a short walk south.
For a guest this is a base rather than a destination: two rail lines, an airport link a stop away at Makkasan, and most of the city within one train and no changes.
