Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok opened in 2020 as the centrepiece of Sindhorn Village, a development that replaced a large private plot between Langsuan and Lumphini Park with gardens, residences and this hotel. It is the second Kempinski project in Thailand with Siam Sindhorn, and it holds 274 rooms and suites.
The building is the thing people talk about. It is wrapped in board-formed concrete — raw, with the grain of the timber shuttering left in the surface — cut through with planted terraces, so the whole mass reads as a piece of landscape rather than a tower. Inside are Bistrot de la Mer for seafood, Firefly for cocktails, and Loukjaan, the Royal Thai kitchen from the Michelin-starred Saneh Jaan. Sindhorn Wellness by Resense runs over two floors with a partly covered outdoor infinity pool, and the fitness floors were the first of their kind for the brand in Asia.
What makes it unusual for central Bangkok is what is outside. Lumphini Park is a short walk south, so guests get 140 rai of open green, morning tai chi and a lake, in a district otherwise made of malls. Soi Ton Son and Langsuan hold the quieter, more residential half of Pathum Wan, and BTS Ratchadamri and Chit Lom are both within reach.
