Soi Ton Son is one of the few genuinely quiet lanes left in central Pathum Wan. It carries no through traffic, the buildings sit behind walls and mature trees, and the sound of Ploenchit stops at the corner. That is unusual for an address this close to the middle of the city: BTS Ratchadamri is about 550 metres away, Central Chidlom is at the end of the street, and the elevated skywalk from Chit Lom reaches Gaysorn, CentralWorld, the Erawan Shrine and Central Embassy without a road crossing.
The other reason people take an apartment here is Lumphini Park, a few minutes' walk south — 140 rai of lake, lawn and old banyan trees, busy from before dawn with runners, tai chi groups and the water monitors that have made the park mildly famous. Between the park and the malls, Langsuan and Ton Son hold the cafes and small restaurants that serve the people who actually live in this district.
