SCOPE Langsuan is one of the newer luxury towers on Lang Suan Road, and it is a good illustration of what has happened to this street over the past decade. Langsuan was for a long time a quiet residential road of low-rise apartment blocks and embassy compounds running down to Lumphini Park; it is now one of the most expensive addresses in Thailand, and the buildings going up on it are deliberately small and deliberately finished to a standard the rest of the city does not attempt.
The address gives a visitor an unusual combination. BTS Chit Lom is about 200 metres away, so Central Chidlom, Central Embassy, Gaysorn and CentralWorld are all reachable on foot or by one stop on the skywalk. In the other direction Langsuan runs south to Lumphini Park, 140 rai of lake and lawn where the city goes to run before work. Between the two, the street itself has quietly accumulated a run of coffee shops and small restaurants that serve residents rather than tourists.
