Soi 4, better known as Soi Nana, is one of the oldest and busiest lanes on Sukhumvit. It is a full working street rather than a residential one: hotels, guesthouses, small restaurants, tailors, pharmacies and street food that runs late, with the BTS at the top and the whole of Sukhumvit stretching east from there.
That density is the point for a visitor. Everything is on foot — food at any hour, a chemist, a tailor, a massage — and the BTS at the mouth of the soi puts Asok and Terminal 21 two stops east, Ploenchit and Central Embassy one stop west, and Siam three. Lumphini Park is a short ride south.
Guests here are usually independent travellers staying a week or more, in a small hotel that does not run its own laundry and where a garment-priced list would be an odd fit.
