Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit stands at 1 Sukhumvit Soi 13, at the corner where the soi meets the main road, with 273 rooms and suites behind floor-to-ceiling glass. The building is narrow and tall, so almost every room looks down Sukhumvit rather than into a neighbouring wall.
Spectrum occupies the top of it: a piano bar and restaurant on the 29th floor with an open rooftop bar above on the 30th, which gives the hotel an evening life that most business properties on this stretch do not have.
Soi 13 sits between Nana and Asok, which is a useful place to be. BTS Nana is a few minutes' walk one way and BTS Asok, the MRT interchange and Terminal 21 a few minutes the other, so the entire BTS and MRT network opens up on foot. Central Embassy and the Ratchaprasong malls are two or three stops west; Phrom Phong and the Em District two stops east. The street food and small restaurants of lower Sukhumvit start at the mouth of the soi.
That position makes it a common choice for people in Bangkok for four or five nights, working during the day and out in the evening — the stay length where hotel laundry priced by the garment stops being sensible.
