ABOUT THIS STAY
The Sukhothai Bangkok
The Sukhothai Bangkok is a hotel in the Sathon–Silom–Surawong area of Bangkok. It stands on Soi Suan Phlu 6 in Sathon, Bangkok 10120. MRT Lumphini is roughly a ten-minute walk away. It sits about 1.1 km from the Sathon branch that runs this area, with 26 other addresses we collect from inside a 500 m walk. The nearest address we already collect from is YWCA HOTEL BANGKOK, about 100 m away.
The Sukhothai Bangkok has a front desk, so the usual arrangement is the simplest one: leave the bag with the concierge on your way out and it is back at the same desk when you return. Wash & Fold comes back folded flat and packed for a suitcase; Wash & Iron comes back pressed and on hangers. Next day is standard, and same day is available when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
The building sits on Soi Suan Phlu 6, Sathon. MRT Lumphini is roughly a ten-minute walk from the door (565 m) and MRT Si Lom is about 848 m, so guests here have two lines within walking distance. Our driver comes by road rather than by rail, so the pickup window is the one you agree with us, not the train timetable.
The Sukhothai Bangkok is not a one-off stop for us: on the same round we also collect at YWCA HOTEL BANGKOK (100 m), Banyan Tree Bangkok (150 m) and Baan Nunthasiri (150 m). A van that is already on this street is the reason a same-day return is realistic here when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
More about this place to stay
The Sukhothai Bangkok was completed in 1991 on six acres off South Sathorn Road, and it is the reason a generation of Asian hotels look the way they do. It was the first hotel work by the Australian architect Kerry Hill, designed with the American Ed Tuttle — their only joint project — and developed by HKR International with Adrian Zecha, who went on to found Aman. It opened as the Beaufort Sukhothai.
Rather than build upward, they spread low white pavilions across the site around lotus ponds, courtyards and gardens, taking their cues from the brick and stone of the thirteenth-century Sukhothai kingdom: stupa forms rising out of still water, colonnades, stone, metal and teak. It holds 210 rooms and seven restaurants, and the scale is the opposite of everything built in Bangkok since.
The location is deliberate too. Six acres of garden in the middle of Sathorn — the banking and embassy district — means the traffic is a hundred metres away and inaudible. Lumphini Park is a short walk north, MRT Lumphini and BTS Sala Daeng are within reach, and Silom is a few minutes beyond.
Guests stay longer here than the Bangkok average, and often for work.
You can use GO Laundry PX's laundry delivery service from The Sukhothai Bangkok. We collect at the front desk or from you, wash every order on its own rather than in a shared machine, and return it to the same address — folded flat for packing, or pressed and returned on hangers. Next day is standard; same day is confirmed at booking before 2pm.
