Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit stands at the mouth of Soi Thong Lo, and the thing it is known for occupies its top five floors. Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar runs from the 45th to the 49th, four linked levels ending in a circular open-air terrace with a genuine 360-degree view — one of the largest rooftop bars in Bangkok by floor area, and one of the few where you can walk the whole way round.
The hotel below is a solid business property, but Thong Lo is the reason to choose it. The soi runs two kilometres north from Sukhumvit and has become the part of Bangkok where the city's own design, food and drink scene concentrates: izakaya and ramen counters serving the large Japanese community, independent restaurants, coffee roasters, and bars that stay busy until late.
BTS Thong Lo is at the door, which puts Phrom Phong and the Em District one stop west, Asok and the MRT interchange three stops, and Ekkamai one stop east. Benchasiri Park is a short ride, and Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital is up Soi 49.
Guests here stay several nights and are out most evenings, which is when clothes accumulate faster than a hotel laundry list priced by the garment makes sense.
