Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok stands at 155/1 Soi Mahadlek Luang 1, a short lane off Ratchadamri Road, with 316 rooms and suites. Being on the soi rather than the main road is the whole character of the place: Mahadlek Luang is a quiet residential lane hemmed in by the Royal Bangkok Sports Club on one side, so the hotel is a few hundred metres from the busiest retail crossing in Thailand and cannot hear it.
Rooms are contemporary and unfussy, with 49-inch screens, minibars and safes, and every one looks out over the city rather than into a light well. There is an outdoor pool and a restaurant, and the hotel runs a free shuttle to both BTS Ratchadamri and BTS Chit Lom, which regulars use constantly.
Ratchadamri station is about five minutes on foot in any case. From there the skywalk network reaches CentralWorld, Gaysorn Village, Gaysorn Amarin, Central Chidlom and Central Embassy without crossing a road, and Siam Paragon, Siam Center and MBK are two stops west. The Erawan Shrine is a few minutes north, Jim Thompson House a short ride, and Lumphini Park a walk south.
Guests are a mix of business travellers and families, generally staying several nights.
