ABOUT THIS STAY
Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel
Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel is a hotel in the Langsuan–Ratchadamri–Ploenchit area of Bangkok. It stands on Ratchadamri Road in Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330. BTS Ratchadamri is a couple of minutes' walk away. It sits inside the Langsuan pickup round, with 37 other addresses we collect from inside a 500 m walk. The nearest address we already collect from is Grande Centre Point Prestige Bangkok, about 100 m away.
Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel has a front desk, so the usual arrangement is the simplest one: leave the bag with the concierge on your way out and it is back at the same desk when you return. Wash & Fold comes back folded flat and packed for a suitcase; Wash & Iron comes back pressed and on hangers. Next day is standard, and same day is available when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
The building sits on Ratchadamri Road, Pathum Wan. BTS Ratchadamri is a couple of minutes' walk from the door (181 m) and BTS Chit Lom is about 488 m, so guests here have two lines within walking distance. Our driver comes by road rather than by rail, so the pickup window is the one you agree with us, not the train timetable.
Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel is not a one-off stop for us: on the same round we also collect at Grande Centre Point Prestige Bangkok (100 m), Hansar Bangkok (100 m) and The St. Regis Bangkok (100 m). A van that is already on this street is the reason a same-day return is realistic here when the booking is confirmed before 2pm.
More about this place to stay
Anantara Siam Bangkok has changed its name more often than most hotels change carpets, and the building has outlasted all of it. It opened in 1978 as the Bangkok Peninsula, became The Regent Bangkok in 1982, was rebranded Four Seasons in the early 2000s under Minor Hotel Group's ownership, and took the Anantara Siam name in March 2015. Through every change it has stayed the same low, colonnaded building on Ratchadamri Road, designed by the architect George Wimberley, in a city that mostly builds upward.
The reason to walk into the lobby even if you are not staying is the mural. A hundred square metres of hand-woven Thai silk hang above the grand staircase, painted with The Coronation of a King — the founding of Bangkok and the start of the Chakri dynasty in 1782. It was the last work of Ajarn Paiboon Suwannakudt, the finest traditional muralist of modern Thailand, who died six months into painting it. His daughter Phaptawan Suwannakudt finished it, along with the twenty-five painted ceiling panels around it, over a year with twenty-seven apprentices.
Around the hotel is the Ratchaprasong end of Ratchadamri: the Royal Bangkok Sports Club racecourse across the road, BTS Ratchadamri at the corner, CentralWorld and Gaysorn a few minutes north, Lumphini Park a short walk south. It is a quieter address than the Ratchaprasong crossing itself while still being inside it.
Staying here, you can have your laundry collected by GO Laundry PX without leaving the building. We collect at the hotel and return to the same desk, washing each order separately — folded flat for the suitcase, or pressed and returned on hangers.
