Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park is the largest hotel in Bangkok. Two 37-storey towers on Sukhumvit Soi 22 hold well over a thousand rooms, thirty-five meeting rooms across about 6,400 square metres, and a ballroom that seats 1,100. The Marquis name is not decoration — Marriott only uses it for hotels above a thousand rooms with more than 5,000 square metres of event space, and this was the first in Asia.
It is not a new building. It traded for years as the Imperial Queen's Park before a two-and-a-half-year rebuild, reopening in late 2016 as the Marquis. What that history bought is scale that nobody would attempt on a Sukhumvit plot today.
Soi 22 runs south off Sukhumvit toward Rama IV, and Benchasiri Park sits at the top of it. BTS Phrom Phong is a short walk, which puts EmQuartier, Emporium and EmSphere at the station and Asok, Terminal 21 and the MRT one stop west. Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and MedPark Hospital are a short ride south.
A conference hotel of this size fills with people staying four or five nights for an event, in business clothes that need pressing rather than folding.
