Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok stands at 11 Sukhumvit Soi 24 with 280 deluxe rooms and 24 suites, and it is the more grown-up of the two Hilton properties on this soi. The rooms are large by Bangkok standards, and the fit-out leans dark and residential rather than corporate.
Scalini is the reason locals come in. It is the hotel's main restaurant, built as a 1920s Italian-American dining room with an open kitchen, a pizza oven and a wine cellar in the middle of the floor — a serious restaurant rather than a hotel buffet, and it fills with Bangkok residents on weekends.
Soi 24 runs south off Sukhumvit toward Rama IV, lined with condominiums and small restaurants, and it is quieter than the sois either side. BTS Phrom Phong is about 250 metres away, which puts the Em District — Emporium, EmQuartier and EmSphere — at the station, Benchasiri Park across Sukhumvit, and Asok with its MRT interchange one stop west.
Phrom Phong is the centre of Bangkok's Japanese community, so the surrounding sois hold Japanese restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets serving residents rather than visitors, and Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital is a short ride up Soi 49.
